About Us
FATdrop is a digital music delivery company based in Brighton, UK. FATdrop makes online tools for record labels, promotion companies and other music professionals to market and distribute music in the digital age. We provide an all-in-one system for sending digital promos and are constantly developing the service to provide new and useful tools for our clients.
FATdrop began in 2006, when Alex and Chris were working at an independent label in Brighton and needed a better way to manage promos than sticking CDs in envelopes.
Digital promos were the answer. They get to DJs/press instantly wherever they are in the world. They remove the need for expensive and time-consuming postage and packaging, and they don’t need anything physical to be manufactured.
Prior to FATdrop, if labels wanted to send out digital promos they were faced with the choice of either using basic and unprofessional file-sending sites, or uninspiring FTP servers, or having to invest heavily in developing their own systems in-house. There wasn’t an ‘off the shelf’ system that functioned effectively for a reasonable price.
We now work with many labels on a day-to-day basis and listen to their needs. With this in mind, we can hopefully offer some thoughts which people will find interesting and useful and which will open channels of communication beyond our client-base and to the music industry as a whole.
